Deepinsight hosted when the government launched Norway's roadmap for the technology industry

Author: Merete Willumsen Haugå
On Thursday, August 28th, Deepinsight had the pleasure of hosting the launch of the government's first roadmap for the technology industry. The launch brought together politicians, business leaders, and the press to discuss how Norway can become a global digital winner.
Minister of Digitalisation and Public Administration Karianne Tung, State Secretary in the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries Vegard Grøslie Wennesland, and CEO of Abelia Øystein E. Søreide came to our office in Oslo to present the roadmap. The roadmap describes the government's ambitions for technology in business, with a focus on strengthening Norway's competitiveness, creating testbeds for new solutions, and facilitating innovation in the public sector, including healthcare.
Deepinsight CEO Olav Willumsen Haugå had the opportunity to speak on behalf of the Norwegian technology industry and Deepinsight. He highlighted Norway's unique position to become world-leading in the use of AI in the public sector: «This roadmap clearly shows that Norway wants to be a global leader in health technology and AI. We look forward to helping turn these ambitions into reality – both in Norway and internationally,» said Olav.
Olav also shared how Deepinsight Hero contributes to value creation in healthcare. An analysis from Menon Economics shows that the solution can free up resources equivalent to NOK 1.8 billion.
He emphasized the importance of building technology that creates value for the healthcare system, while also being exportable to countries with similar structures and incentives. «AI should not replace healthcare professionals, but make it possible for them to spend more time with patients. This is real value creation,» he said.
Olav also pointed to the four fundamental pillars needed to succeed as an AI-based health technology company:
Access to talent
Access to capital
Access to data
Access to customers with the right form of collaboration, depending on whether you are in the early innovation phase or the scaling phase
Despite some weaknesses in a couple of the pillars, he stressed that Norway already has these prerequisites, and that the roadmap provides a solid foundation for further developing innovation and collaboration between technology players and the healthcare sector. With the right anchoring and collaboration, we can now leverage the full potential of technology, contribute to more efficient patient flow, reduce waiting lists, and at the same time create value that can be exported internationally. The roadmap marks the beginning of an exciting journey, and Deepinsight is ready to contribute to value creation for millions of patients in the years to come.
